The month of June was an especially exciting one as it brought to a close Year Four of the Hollywood 2.0 program. We ended the year with the most exciting H20 community event yet at the Hollywood Mental Health Center facility that opened last fall. Thank you to everyone who showed up, contributed, and celebrated with us at the H20pen House, presented by Hollywood 4WRD and LA County DMH. The evening was a clear example of the deep spirit of community that exists here in Hollywood.More than 100 people joined us to view over 70 pieces of original artwork created by the H20 community peers and artists. Participating artists and H20 peers Antonio, Faith, and Hope also shared how art helps their recovery. A heartfelt thank you to the 40+ artists who shared their work.A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the new mural by Corie Mattie and community members. DMH presented their video interview with Corie on the mural artwork about the elements of the design, process of creating a public mural, and how programs such as Hollywood 2.0 that provide mental health support is vital to the community. The artwork generated tremendous enthusiasm throughout the evening, and some of the attendees expressed interest in purchasing original pieces. Delicious food from Food & Bounty and Food 4 Less, and tunes from DJ Dr. Shayan Rab rounded out the high vibe of the evening.Thank you for being part of our community.
