We are seeking volunteers to provide direct support to young people experiencing homelessness through Safe Haven, a dedicated program that provides daytime shelter and basic needs and services to youth living on the streets. Safe Haven volunteers help serve food, grab mail, answer questions, and provide general support to our program staff. This is an ongoing, high-touch volunteer role that requires approximately five hours of training, a background check, and a six-month service commitment.
My Friend's Place has been welcoming, affirming, and standing in partnership with young people impacted by homelessness in Hollywood and across LA since 1988. Our professional staff serves over 1,150 young people annually, providing what they need to move toward wellness, stability, and a permanent exit from homelessness.

We are seeking volunteers to support their unhoused neighbors with their personal care needs by helping us facilitate our shower program. Volunteers will assist with shower check-in and sanitization, as well as support our clothing boutique, both of which are open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:30am to 3pm. Tasks include cleaning, restocking, and assisting guests as they select personal items and clothing with dignity and care.
Compassion Connection provides free showers to the community twice weekly with a focus on offering an exceptional personal care experience that uplifts and empowers. Drawing inspiration from the hospitality and spa industries, guests are welcomed by one of our friendly Personal Care Concierges and provided with needed supplies. After their shower, guests are invited to visit our boutique filled with new and vintage clothing. Our goal is to create a dignified and enjoyable shopping experience without the monetary barrier.

We are seeking volunteers to help us tend to our community gardens at our adult housing facilities: PATH Metro Villas, Villas at Gower, Avenida (The People Concern), The Mark Twain interim housing, and Bel Air board and care. We're looking for gardeners who would be willing to dig in alongside our residents and share their knowledge and skills for how to successfully grow food, herbs, and flowers.
Heart Forward LA practices "radical hospitality" in permanent supportive housing communities, board and care housing, our local clubhouse, and the county jail. Our goal is to be more than a meal, more than a shower, more than any of our services—but a ministry where we witness countless examples of how the compassion of Jesus changes everything.
